MATRIX Large and MATRIX Angle are both compatible with the height adjustable support brackets. Smaller MATRIX Small and MATRIX curve can be used with Pressalit’s sink basin lifts, making them electronically adjustable.

All of the Pressalit MATRIX sinks have been designed for easy cleaning. Each sink is a single piece with no crevices, greatly reducing bacteria growth. All surfaces have a high-gloss sanitary coating, making it simple to clean.

Pressalit has tested their MATRIX line wheelchair sinks to simulate several real-life interactions. These sinks have had their weakest points tested to support well over 400 lbs, exceeding industry standards. The handrails have passed both laterally and vertical application of over 300 lbs. These qualifications make MATRIX sinks safe for daily use.

Wheelchair sinks generally have a flat bottomed, shallow basin to allow a seated wheelchair user to fit beneath the sink, and include a tap which is easily accessible from a seated position. Several of the Pressalit MATRIX sinks also include handrails for extra assistance.

Freestanding height adjustable countertops resemble a table, and are meant to be accessed from all sides. The legs of the wheelchair accessible table are designed to not inconvenience a wheelchair user as they maneuver around the space. Freestanding handicapped work surfaces are also beneficial when walls are not strong enough to support a wall mounted height adjustable countertop. Appliances such as stovetops and sinks are typically installed into wall mounted handicapped counter.

Indivo’s handicapped countertops have three different lift systems. Wheelchair accessible counters that require frequent, everyday adjustments benefit from electric lift systems. For movable countertops on a budget, a manual crank operated system is a good option. Kitchens that must be adaptable, but on an infrequent basis may employ bracket lift systems.

Height adjustable countertops range of movement varies slightly depending on the lift system, from just under 10 inches on the bracket system, to just under 12 inches for the manual lift. Electric operated handicapped counters fall in between, at 11 inches of movement. Wheelchair accessible cabinets are move diagonally, and fully extended move 17 inches lower, and 7 inches toward the seated user.

Each handicapped accessible cabinet and counter have pressure sensitive systems to prevent injury and damage. When contacted, the height adjustable countertop or cabinet will stop and reverse. Safety systems can also be linked—items on a raising countertop that contact the cabinet sensor will cause the wheelchair accessible countertop to stop. As an added safety feature, stovetops and sinks built into the movable countertops are insulated to prevent scalding injuries.

Ina bathroom setting grab bars can allow a patient to pull themselves up from a tub, steady themselves in the shower, push up from toileting, or navigate the room more safely.

Grab bars enable patients to balance themselves, redistribute their weight while maneuvering, and most importantly give them something to grab to stop themselves from falling. Grab bars can quickly transform the level of safety in a bathroom to better accommodate those with disabilities.
