26 Jul Adult Changing Tables Are Being Installed At Rest Stops Along New York’s I-87
For adults who need changing assistance and their families, traveling can be daunting. Where will they stop when they need to go to the restroom? Adult changing tables in public spaces are few and far between. That’s why we’re proud to announce that Patient Safety USA has partnered with the State of New York to install adult changing tables at rest stops along the New York State Thruway (I-87), ensuring that those with disabilities have a safe, sanitary space to use the restroom along their journeys.
The Challenge
For most people, finding a rest stop to use the bathroom is relatively easy and uneventful. But for those with disabilities and their caretakers, it can be challenging to find a proper space for the changing process. This often results in using the trunk of their car or even the floor of a family-style restroom, either of which presents an unsanitary, undignified situation.
The Solution
Every human deserves access to equal restroom facilities. For those with changing needs, this means access to adult changing tables.
What is an adult changing table?
An adult changing table, also referred to as a nursing bench or nursing change table, is exactly as it sounds: a changing station designed to accommodate older children and adults. These changing tables are either height-adjustable or installed at a fixed height, and come in a range of designs and styles. Patient Safety partners with Pressalit and Smirthwaite, both leading manufacturers of adult changing tables, to provide some of the best products available.
Available Soon at New York Rest Stops
We’re excited to share that one of our changing tables, the CT 4000, will be installed at several rest stops along I-87 and I90 in New York state. Models CT 4000 and and 4100 are electrically height-adjustable and designed with a safety rail to ensure the safety and comfort of each user. Further, they fold up against the wall to save space while not in use. It is our hope that the availability of these changing tables enables more families to travel freely, without the worry of finding a place to use the restroom.
